By the grace of the God of Israel, the raging fires in northern Israel are now fully extinguished. This is an important and wonderful development. Now the difficult work begins of helping families affected by the fires. More than 17,000 were evacuated from their homes during the fires. Many are returning home now.
In July, for the third year in a row, The Joshua Fund helped sponsor “Back to Jerusalem,” a conference and outreach designed by Arab-Israeli Christians to help their fellow Arab believers learn how to share their faith. What a joy it was to go and be part of bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ back to where it all began.
In August, I had the opportunity to travel with two of my colleagues to Israel to visit The Joshua Fund warehouse, see operations on the ground, and consider such questions. The last time I had been to the warehouse was in November 2009 when TJF had first rented the facility and we had prayed and dedicated the building. It was completely empty then, and we had no staff to run it. Not anymore.
At the end of 2009, with your financial help and faithful prayers, The Joshua Fund provided a significant grant to Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency medical service, to purchase two brand new ambulances. Both were built, outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment, and delivered to an MDA station in Jerusalem in May 2010
The world is turning away from Israel. But as followers of Jesus Christ, it is time for us to stand with God’s chosen people together. Let’s pray for the peace of Jerusalem together. Let’s study the Word of God together. Let’s worship the King of kings together. Will you join us?

Some statistics say as many as one-third of all pregnancies in Israel end in abortion. The number of legal abortions annually, paid for by Israel’s national health care system, is approximately 20,000. Since 1948, there have been an estimated 2 million abortions. This challenges the sense we have of Israel as "The Holy Land", though we often find it a land of stark contrasts that can both perplex and grieve us.
Passover is a national holiday and celebration in Israel that commemorates freedom from slavery. Although it is impossible to compare the suffering of the Jews under Pharaoh to the suffering of the poor and forgotten in the nation of Israel today, many impoverished families do not have enough food in their pantry to celebrate the Passover holiday. There are more than 1.5 million people in Israel who live beneath the poverty level, and over half of those are children. Through the generosity of your gifts, The Joshua Fund provided many families with a meal just in time for the Passover holiday.
The Joshua Fund continues to bring Iraqi children to Israel for life-saving heart surgery. One recent example was Aram, an 18-month-old boy. Please pray for this dear little child and his family. Aram was petrified of the hospital when he first arrived. He screamed and cried during the admittance procedures. Aram was then called to have his surgery ahead of other children only three days after arriving. This was unusual, and meant that his heart condition was so bad that the doctors wanted to proceed immediately. His mother, Shownim, was understandably concerned for her son.
