Holocaust Survivors Party

An estimated one-third of the Holocaust survivors living in Israel are living in poverty. The Joshua Fund had the privilege of providing funding for a party and Passover gifts for hundreds of these dear ones who have suffered so much. They were brought from different parts of Israel to join together for a lovely lunch complete with flowers, music and presents. What a blessing to watch as they arrived and saw the beautiful preparations that had been made just for them and to see the joy on their faces as they embraced old friends they hadn’t seen for a very long time. Faces lit up when some shared where they had lived prior to the war and found out the person they were talking with had lived in the same village. They wept together as they shared their stories from the past as well as the burdens they are living with today. So many emotions were rolled into one afternoon.

Then there was the music! Professional musicians were there to entertain during the party. This incredibly talented couple played violins, trumpet, trombone and flute and sang traditional Israeli songs, along with so many songs from the past that touched the hearts of those in attendance. But the best part was when our guests joined in the singing and danced their traditional dances together. What an amazing day.

As each guest left to return to their homes, they received a Passover gift that included two pounds of matzo, matzo flour, gefilte fish, wine and a quartz clock.

With the youngest survivors now being in their seventies, there is not much time left to provide assistance to these who have suffered so much and continue to suffer by living in poverty. Thank you to each of you who have given to The Joshua Fund with your prayer support and your finances. We are so appreciative of what you have provided to the people of Israel through The Joshua Fund and look forward to your partnership with us in the future.
