A Luncheon to Celebrate and Honor Mothers

As hundreds of Arab women assembled for a luncheon, some were likely a bit apprehensive over joining this group for the first time.  Thankfully, many came at the personal invitation of friends and neighbors.  The Lord had placed this important celebration on the hearts of a small band of Followers of Jesus Christ several years ago as a way to celebrate and honor these special invitees. All who attended were mothers or daughters who came with their mothers to honor them.  In the Galilee area of Israel, a small group of Arab Believers have been actively imitating the love and passion of their Lord Jesus by reaching out to their community to honor mothers living in the area.  One woman remarked “I drove a few ladies to the event who had never attended and while they seemed nervous on the way, they got over it quickly and shared that they were planning to join the weekly women’s Bible study.”

The beautifully prepared meal was served to these guests who had come from many faiths, cultures and backgrounds.  Many accepted the invitation for a pleasant day out, not knowing quite what to expect, but were quickly comforted by the warm and welcoming environment.  Some of the attendees commented, “There is a sweet Spirit from the Lord in this place.”  As the meal concluded, a clear message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was presented.  Many women responded to the call for a time of personal prayer that was offered – for them to seek the Lord’s healing or comfort, to lift up their personal needs and for some to respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time!

The Joshua Fund team considers it a tremendous privilege, with you as our partners in the work, to have been able to come alongside this group of Believers to undergird this sweet and vital work of the Holy Spirit.  Please join us in continuing to pray for these new followers of Jesus - as they read the Bibles for the first time, begin to grow in their faith, and attend small group Bible studies.  Would you also pray specifically for those who come alongside these new Believers?  The local body of Christ who so ably serves to encourage them in their faith through discipleship.  Please remember this group of Arab Believers, your brothers and sisters - that have been called to minister to their community in this way, that the Lord will richly bless and equip them and give them greater opportunities to serve Him.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11: 28 – 30
