Picnicking at Armageddon

Israel Tour Begins with Joel Rosenberg

Six busloads of those who remained behind in Israel for the post-conference tour headed north through the Land to the lush farmland known as the Valley of Jezreel, or more popularly, the Valley of Armageddon. But before getting there, the first stop of the day was on the summit of Mount Carmel, the place where Elijah and the prophets of Baal offered sacrifices—with very different outcomes! Words of encouragement and songs of praise rang from the mountaintop as believers joined together in giving thanks for God’s miraculous works both then and now.

Luncheon was served in the shade of trees at Tel Megiddo; then, tour members climbed to the top of its ruins, taking snapshots of the vast plain that will host the Battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16:16). Afterwards, Joel Rosenberg taught through the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation, warning those gathered not to be deceived by the relative tranquility of the setting. A great, horrific war will drench this place in blood, and it is paramount to spread the news of God’s salvation to everyone before it’s too late. Those who love the Lord will be spared the coming wrath, so we must commit ourselves to proclaiming the gospel so that as many as possible will be saved.
